In recent years, I’ve created a few MSDN accounts. Okay, I’ve created at least seven of them. Most accounts aren’t very useful nowadays and were just created, because I forget that I’ve created others earlier :). One year ago, I chose one account and decided that this would be my main account. It’s the chosen one so to speak :).
This account is my new main account, because all of my threads in the MSDN forums were posted with it. Unfortunately I used the wrong email address when I created this account and I don’t wan’t to delete it and recreate one with the correct address. But, in 2013, it’s easy to change the email address in the MSDN profile.
I thought it should be easy. But I can’t found the email setting in the MSDN profile view. After some twitter discussions and „research“ on Google I found two Microsoft webpages. And because I forget this information at the latest in two days, I write them down here :).
The first page just called Microsoft account and can be found at https://account.live.com. There you can change the email address, the password and some other information. Additionally you can link other MSDN accounts (aliases) to the account you’re currently logged in with.
The other website is called Microsoft Profiles and can be found at https://profile.microsoft.com. There you can change other information, like your address, phone numbers and so on.
For my purpose the first website was the place to be. But it is strange, that this major feature, the possibility to change the email address, is such a cumbersome task. At least a link to the right website mentioned above is obligatory. I don’t know why that’s not the case. Maybe someone can explain me this behavior. But until this is maybe changed in the future, you can change your profile data on the two mentioned webpages.
